MUKAH: A 75-year-old man, who went missing after entering the forest near Kampung Judan here yesterday morning, was found safe today.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre said the Mukah Operations Centre received a call at 8:15 pm yesterday reporting on a missing person, identified as Narudin Abdullah.


A rescue team from the Mukah station was then dispatched to the scene, and personnel began gathering information before initiating the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
“The SAR operation this morning involved personnel from the Royal Malaysian Police Civil Defence Force, and villagers from Kampung Penat and Kampung Judan.
“The area was divided into four sectors.
“At 11:00 am, a village search team successfully located Narudin. He was unharmed and later escorted out of the forest at 12:30 pm,” it said in a statement today.
The elderly man was then taken to the hospital for further examination.
Based on the chronology of the incident, the elderly man went missing in the forest after going out on April 25 at 11:00 am to collect wood for making ‘pakak’.
He did not returned home, and concerned family members who were unable to reach him, contacted the authorities for help.
