BINTULU: An elderly man was injured in a collision between his car and another vehicle at Jalan Sibiew, Taman Pearl Garden, here this evening.
The 72-year-old man sustained injuries to his head and back in the accident, which involved a hatchback and a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said a team from the Bintulu station was dispatched to the scene, located about eight kilometres away, after receiving a distress call at 5:14 pm.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the driver of the hatchback was trapped inside the vehicle, while the 4WD driver escaped unhurt,” the department said.
The rescue team successfully extricated the injured man from the car, and fitted a cervical collar on him before handing him over to the ambulance personnel for further treatment.
