SELANGAU: A 70-year-old man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident at Kilometer 96, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, early this morning.
Mukah District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the accident occurred around 6.20 am and involved a motorcycle and a vehicle.
“The victim sustained severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the man was initially involved in a single-vehicle accident before being struck by another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without offering assistance.
Police are now working to identify and locate the vehicle involved. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
