SERIAN: Anxiety is mounting in Kampung Koran Empaneg here after an elderly man failed to return home from a relative’s funeral in a neighbouring village on Saturday (May 16).
The missing man, identified as 68-year-old Baluk Dayo, was last seen at around 2 pm after attending the funeral at Kampung Koran Bari.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the man’s family lodged a report after he did not return home later that day.
Initial searches carried out by family members and villagers around the area failed to locate him.
The victim was reported to have high blood pressure, heart problems and gastritis, raising concerns over his wellbeing.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched by firefighters from Serian station after they received an emergency call pertaining to the incident at 10.38 pm on Sunday night (May 17).
At the time of writing, the elderly man has yet to be found and the search is underway.
