KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 71-year-old mosque worker from Kampung Rebak, Asajaya, is facing severe financial difficulties after sustaining a hip fracture in a workplace accident that left him largely immobile.

Sudin Nen was injured after falling while changing a light bulb at his village mosque, resulting in a hip fracture that required surgery and leaving him unable to move independently.

A social worker from a local health clinic contacted Hope Place Kuching to seek assistance for Sudin, whose condition has affected the livelihood of his entire family.

Prior to the accident, Sudin earned a modest income as a small-scale farmer, cultivating coconuts and maize for sale.

His wife, Timah, 66, previously helped him with farm work but is now unable to do so due to her husband’s condition and her own health issues, including diabetes.

The couple’s only child, Niqman, 26, had been working in a factory in Peninsular Malaysia but returned to Kuching during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since been unable to secure employment.

With no stable source of income, the family is struggling to meet daily expenses.

Hope Place Kuching, also known as Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK), has stepped in to provide basic food aid and a wheelchair to support Sudin during his recovery.
