MIRI: An elderly man suffering from a stroke was evacuated from his home after heavy rain triggered flooding in several areas of Miri, including Senadin, today.

The 52-year-old man, identified as a resident of Lot 757, Harmoni 3E, Tudan Phase 6, was assisted by firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station (Bomba) after floodwaters threatened his safety.

Firemen transferred the man, Jemat Ngerembang, to his son’s house in Taman Permy as a precautionary measure.

The evacuation was carried out during ongoing flood monitoring operations by Bomba personnel following continuous downpours across the city.

Several low-lying areas were reported inundated after hours of heavy rain, prompting emergency teams to remain on standby to assess the situation and provide assistance to affected residents.
