KUCHING: A 71-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash after a Proton Saga she was travelling in hit a road divider near Everwin Batu 6 here today (Jan 24).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident occurred at about 3.32pm and involved three occupants — two women and a male driver.
The victim, identified as Siti Badariah Abdullah, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was found unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle when firefighters arrived.
She was later confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.
The driver, Baslie Sulaiman, 71, sustained minor injuries, while rear passenger Siti Nur Asyikin Baslie, 35, suffered head injuries.
Firefighters from the Kota Sentosa station extricated the deceased with a stretcher before handing the body over to police for further action.
The two injured victims were taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
