KUCHING: Since the elevation of its status to a full district around two years ago, Sebuyau have undergone major transformation and development, bringing improved infrastructure, public facilities, amenities and economic opportunities to the area
Sebuyau assemblyman, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said that various developments in Sebuyau show the seriousness of the state government towards development across Sarawak.
He said that the state government aims to bring the rural, interior and coastal areas into the mainstream of development.
“And that is what we have witnessed at this point in time, through our planning, and we still established it at the moment, especially through the establishment of the coastal road and second main road.
“So we can see how the construction of the Batang Lupar Bridge, which connects Sebuyau with the Triso ferry in the sub-district of Meludam in the Betong Division, serves as a strategic route along the coastal road, apart from other bridges being built at coastal road across the state.
“That being said, it has become a game changer for connectivity.
“This can be seen through the construction road from Sebuyau to Lingga which would make the distance between both districts much closer,” he said.
He said these when met by reporters after attending the swearing-in ceremony for the Sebuyau district councillors for the April 1 to March 31 2028 term at Grand Margherita Hotel here today.
On another note, Julaihi who is the Utility and Telecommunication Minister. stated that the appointment of the district officer, assistant district officer and five administration officers in Sebuyau is crucial, especially in monitoring the development in the district and a more focus administration.
“We might not realise it, but that is why this (the appointment) is part of the development happening in Sebuyau.
“Aligning with the elevation into full district, we now have the Sebuyau District Council.
“This is a huge change, and through the council, they will help to ensure the effectiveness of the project implementation in the district itself,” he added.
