KUCHING: Muslims in Sarawak must unite, build new skills and harness technology to make Sarawak competitive and progressive, said Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
In conjunction with this year’s Maulidur Rasul celebration, he encouraged the people to use the occasion as a starting point to embrace a spirit of transformation.
“In a rapidly evolving digital world, we must not fall behind.
“Let us, therefore, renew our resolve, truly embrace the meaning of Maulidur Rasul, and use this moment as the beginning of dedicated efforts, a spirit of change, and love for our nation and religion,” he said.
He said this during the Sarawak-level Maulidur Rasul parade and celebration themed “Ummah Maju Makmur” (Progressive and Prosperous Ummah), at Padang Merdeka here on Saturday (Sept 6).
Wan Junaidi added that this year’s theme aligns closely with Sarawak’s aspirations, reflecting the state government’s vision of developing a society that thrives not only in physical and economic aspects but also in values, knowledge and morality.
“Maulidur Rasul is not just a celebration, it is a turning point to renew our determination to emulate the morals and leadership of Prophet Muhammad SAW, and to build a peaceful, loving Sarawak guided by his Sunnah.
“It is an opportunity for us to reaffirm our commitment to making the Prophet our living example and source of inspiration in all aspects of life, including our drive for the advancement of our beloved Sarawak,” he added.

He also said that this year marks the final year of the 12th Malaysia Plan, which is critical for shaping a more prosperous and inclusive future for Sarawak.
“This year also marks the mid-term review of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which involves the implementation of key infrastructure projects, modern facilities, and a sustainable, secure digital ecosystem to meet future needs.
“Furthermore, the establishment of Sarawak’s Sovereign Wealth Future Fund is a wise and strategic move that reflects our determination to become a global investor while prioritising the people’s interests and long-term sustainability.
“Let us unite in supporting this effort to ensure the state’s wealth is managed prudently for a more secure future and for the benefit of generations to come,” he said.
