HELLO dear readers! Greetings from the vibrant city of Beijing, China, as we delve into the wonderful month of April.
This first week evokes a sense of renewal and warmth, and I am thrilled to share my thoughts with you on the theme of Yellow. As we enter this cheerful season, let us together explore the resplendent qualities of yellow – qualities that inspire us to seek clarity even amidst chaos
Reflecting within the sanctuary of my room while writing this article, I feel immensely blessed. My heart dances with joy as I share this message of cheerfulness, especially as I embrace the vibrant energy of life during my recovery journey.
Today, I feel compelled to uplift you with the radiant spirit of yellow, which symbolises optimism, joy, and the gentle assurance that after every storm, the sun will indeed shine.
April, a month of blooming flowers and emerging sunshine, aligns beautifully with the color yellow. This hue is the very embodiment of positivity and clarity, encouraging us to embrace life with a renewed sense of purpose.
The charm of yellow radiates cheerfulness; it urges us to uncover the silver linings in our experiences, reminding us that optimism is a choice we can make, even in tumultuous times.
As we navigate through life’s uncertainties, yellow acts as a beacon of hope, inviting us to lift each other up within our families, teams, and communities.
It fosters an environment of encouragement and support, moving us to share our radiant smiles and seek the sunshine, even on cloudy days. So let us invoke the spirit of yellow as we greet April and one another.
In a spiritual context, yellow possesses layers of meaning, highlighting hope and enlightenment. One of the most beautiful verses that echoes the sentiment of yellow is found in Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
This verse beautifully encapsulates how the divine light of God’s guidance can illuminate our way, much like the color yellow brings brightness to our lives.
Furthermore, in Matthew 5:16, we are reminded: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Just as the sun’s rays bring life and warmth, our actions can embody the essence of yellow, inspiring those around us to embrace positivity and hope.
As we reflect on the significance of yellow, it’s essential to recognize its impact across various age groups. For the young, yellow represents the untainted joy of childhood; it encourages playfulness and creativity. For teenagers, it signals the radiant energy and aspirations of youth, reminding them that even in the trials of adolescence, clarity and brightness await.
For adults, yellow serves as a call to embrace optimism in both personal and professional lives. It invites us to find the silver linings in setbacks, to build meaningful connections, and to practice resilience while nurturing a supportive environment for others.
Lastly, for the elderly, yellow symbolises warmth, comfort, and the beauty of shared experiences. It encourages storytelling and reminiscing about joyful moments, reminding them that every day is a gift, rich with opportunities for love and connection.
This month of April marks a significant chapter in my life, underscored by my freshly shaved head – a bold (not just bald) testament to my journey. Just this morning, at precisely 11:30 am, I took a leap of faith, allowing my once flowing locks to fall away as a symbolic gesture of renewal and strength.
As I navigate this new chapter, my path is illuminated by the bright hue of yellow that encapsulates my boldness and determination.
The acronym BOLD perfectly embodies my new approach to life this month:
- B for Bravery, the courage to face my health challenges head-on.
- O for Optimism, the unwavering belief that brighter days are ahead, even when wrapped in uncertainty.
- L for Love, the love I receive from family, friends, and my faith, which fuels my recovery and fills my heart with joy.
- D for Determination, the intention to pursue healing and wholeness with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit that refuses to yield.
- These values serve as guiding lights in my life as I embrace my rebirth on this beautiful first day of April. The arrival of spring signifies a time of blossoming and rejuvenation, much like the transformation I have experienced through the grace of God.
My journey toward recovery has been both challenging and miraculous. Since 13 March 2026, I experienced significant breathing complications that left me gasping for air without the assistance of oxygen.
The gravity of that critical condition weighed heavily on my heart, yet there emerged a flickering hope that guided me through the darkest moments.
I was met with trials ranging from discomfort to a grueling chemotherapy regimen on March 17th, 2026, that tested my endurance, but through it all, I found solace in trusting the Lord. I was blessed with miraculous signs of healing; on March 26th, I noticed the swelling in my body begin to subside, a tangible testament to the loving hand of God at work.
The gift of blood infusions (four times) within 3 weeks, was another blessing, and though it was not without its challenges, I witnessed how God’s grace paved easier paths through the difficulties.
Miraculously, on March 29th, I stood and walked without the need for a walking stroller or supplemental oxygen, achievements that left my doctors in disbelief. They marveled at my recovery, which they deemed improbable – yet here I am, embracing life with the bright energy of yellow!
I owe my gratitude to God, to the intercession of the saints, and to my loved ones, my dearest daughter and caring companion Natasha, my spiritual director Father Ramon, Argenis Angulo, my sister Lee Choo and sister Wenderine, my friends who are sisters Caroline and Jocelyn, my supportive husband Jefferey, my Godma Bernedette, Brother Raymond Wee and Brother Francis Ang, Sister Christina Chao, and all those who have embraced me in prayers (Sister Faith, Sister Navis, Father Andrea, Father Delphin, Father Joel, Father Eugene, Mama Mabel, mama Grace, Sister Dorin, Sister Grace Sim, Brother Charles, Papa Titus, Sister Daisy, Sister Esther, Sister Remie, Nong Sharifah, Sister Sophia Soo, Sister Roslyn, Sis Mary Law, Brother Dr Bryan, His Grace Archbishop Simon Poh, Bro Michael Hii, Brother Victor Hii, Sister Linda Soo, Sister Dorothy, Sister Rose, Sister Phyllis Wong, Sister Monica Ursula, Sister Prisca, Sister Patricia Kong, Aunty Eunice, Sister Hilda, Sister Dew and Sister Astrid) and all my friends in faith.
Jesus, my Saviour, your grace has gifted me the chance to heal and live fully.
As we embark on this journey together, allow me to end this article with a heartfelt prayer for each of you:
“Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you with grateful hearts, thanking you for the gift of life. As we step into April, may your light and love illuminate our paths. Help us find the courage to embrace positivity and clarity, to lift one another up, and to seek joy amid our struggles. Fill our days with the brightness of your grace as we strive to be beacons of hope to each other. Let the spirit of yellow infuse our lives, igniting the spark of faith that propels us forward. In your holy name, we pray. Amen.”
April symbolises not just the beauty of spring but the promise of new life – a yearly reminder that even our most challenging moments can lead to profound transformation. As we welcome this month, may we all remember that just like the radiance of yellow, we have the power to shine brightly, illuminating the world around us.
As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded: “April teaches us that life is a canvas that we can paint with the colors of hope, joy, and courage – each shade telling the story of our resilience and the mystery of God’s Love.”
Dear readers and friends, let us embrace this vibrant month with open hearts, and may we continue to find beauty in every hue! Enter Coldplay… “Look at the stars. Look how they shine for you and everything you do. Yeah, they were all yellow….”
Happy yellow April to all!
