KUCHING: The Women Entrepreneurship Conference (WEC) 2025 is a platform that empowers Dayak women entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to thrive in business.

Also, to contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s economic development.

In stating this, Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Datuk Allan Keripin Nangkai said for decades, Dayak women have been the backbone of their communities, demonstrating resilience, ingenuity, and unwavering determination in their entrepreneurial pursuits.

“Whether as small business owners, artisans, traders, or industry leaders, they have played a critical role in preserving cultural heritage, supporting their families, and driving local economies forward.

“Now, as we embrace a rapidly evolving global economy, we must ensure that Dayak women have equal access to opportunities, resources, and platforms to scale their businesses and participate actively in emerging markets,” he said.

He said this in his speech read by DCCI Executive Secretary Terence Temenggong Jayang during the opening of the Women Entrepreneurship Conference (WEC) 2025 at Dayak Chamber Tower here Saturday.

Allan reiterated that empowering women is not just a social imperative but an economic necessity.

He cited global studies indicating that investing in women’s entrepreneurship leads to stronger families, more prosperous communities, and a more resilient economy.

“By providing women with the right training, mentorship, financial literacy programmes, and market access, we can foster an inclusive and competitive business landscape that benefits everyone,” he said.

He commended Women Empowerment and Sustainability Network Association (WESNA) Kuching for its unwavering commitment to advancing women’s economic participation and leadership.

“Your dedication to fostering sustainable economic opportunities for women entrepreneurs, especially to our Dayak women is instrumental in shaping a more inclusive future for all,” he said.

Encouraging participation in WEC 2025, Allan called on all Dayak women entrepreneurs, aspiring business leaders, and professionals to seize the opportunities presented by the conference.

He emphasised that WEC 2025 will offer valuable insights from industry experts, networking opportunities with mentors, and avenues for business expansion.

“We stand at a pivotal moment where Dayak women can become powerful agents of change. The time is now to harness the potential of our women entrepreneurs, break barriers, and build a future where they are equally represented in leadership, innovation, and wealth creation.

“I strongly encourage all Dayak women entrepreneurs, aspiring business leaders, and professionals to actively participate in WEC 2025.

“Seize this opportunity to learn from industry experts, connect with mentors, and explore new avenues for business growth. Together, we can build a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable Sarawak,” he said.
