BETONG: An open fertigation area will be developed in Beting Maro to function as a training centre for youth to master modern farming technology.
Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said the proposed project was in line with his focus on empowering the community, especially the youth through modern farming.
“Our purpose is to train the community especially the youth in modern farming.
“In all over Beladin al-Amin mosque area, we will turn into an open fertigation location, which means we will ease the youth in seeking modern farming knowledge.
“When we want to hold smart farming course for instance, it can be held here and our local community do not have to go far to attend such courses,” he said.
Razaili, who is also chairman of Saberkas Beting Maro said this after chairing its annual meeting here yesterday.
He also said that a plan is in the pipeline to introduce high quality farming in Beting Maro.
“With three sets of green house, which we will develop, we want to grow grapes, strawberries, which we believe will give an impact to the socioeconomic and tourism sectors here.
“I believe, it is not impossible to do with the use of IoT technology.
“And I also believe the state government will assist, because this is our effort to promote smart farming among the youth,” he added.
