Engineer escapes from being conned

KUCHING: An engineer was almost cheated of his money after receiving calls claiming to be traffic personnel in Johor.  

The 24-year-old said on Sunday morning, he was contacted by a person who called Jeffri through telelphone (014-1723833) who said he was involved in a criminal case and asked the complainant to call the Police Station 07-3532124 looking for Sgt Mark.  

He was told that there was a suspect driving a rented vehicle who was found to have drugs with him.

The suspect also told the complainant that the suspect was involved in money laundering as the suspect used the complainant’s account.

 The complainant was told that there was an OCBC bank account and there was a sum of RM2.8 million in the account and the caller requested him to transfer his money to another account or he will be arrested.  When the complainant called the Johor police, he was told that there was no such call from them or any such case.  Thereafter, the complainant made a police report.
