ENGKILILI: An indoor stadium will be built here in addition to a Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), which is set to be constructed soon.

Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa said the long-awaited request for a fire station will soon become a reality.

“Recently, I, along with the relevant authorities, conducted a site visit for the project and was informed that construction is expected to begin shortly.

“The proposal for the construction of an indoor stadium in Engkilili has also been approved,” he said at the launching of the new site for Rumah Panjang Rundai Ugat, Baloi, Skrang, today.

He added that he had been informed of this development during a meeting with the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“In light of this, I am confident that more development projects will follow, especially as the Engkilili Sub-District is set to be upgraded to a full district in the near future,” he said.

Rayong also urged the people to fully support and stand firmly behind the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“The people should consider themselves fortunate to have a leader who is highly capable, visionary and forward-thinking.

“With that in mind, there is no reason why the people of this region should not extend their full support to him and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, particularly in Engkilili,” he added.

At the same event, Rayong announced an allocation of RM100,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Panjang Rundai Ugat, Baloi, for the construction of a new longhouse.

Additionally, he contributed RM10,000 under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant.

Three other organisations in the Skim Skrang area —namely the Engkilili Association of Community and Village Chiefs (KMKK), JKKK Memaloi, and Tabika Kemas Skim Skrang — also received MRP contributions from Rayong, amounting to a total of RM28,000 to support their respective activities.
