KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawakians have been urged to cooperate with the government to ensure the success of the country’s recovery plan.
Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang made the call when speaking at the Sepakat@Samarahan District Community Programme organised by the Kota Samarahan Information Department here yesterday (Oct 18).
She pointed out that the government had played its role in helping the people to cope with Covid-19 including introducing a number of assistance unheard of in other countries.
The federal government, she said, had spent nearly RM500 billion to assist those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Both the federal and state governments had also carried out various initiatives to ease the burden of the people in facing the pandemic.
“The Gabungan Parti (GPS) government in Sarawak has provided the Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid (BKSS) to the people for nearly two years now,” she added,
Rubiah pointed out that Monday marked the 580th day since the first movement control order (MCO) was implemented in Malaysia on March 18 last year.
So far, a total of 27,000 Malaysians had perished as a result of the Covid-19 virus with over 2.384 million cumulative cases reported, she added.
