PETALING JAYA: A 30-year-old e-commerce entrepreneur from Johor became RM12.73 million richer after placing a bet using numbers casually chosen by his daughter while they were playing a board game.
According to a report by Free Malaysia Today (FMT), the man said playing board games with his daughter was a regular family activity, and the winning numbers were picked spontaneously during one of those sessions.
“When she started picking the numbers during the game, I decided to try my luck with them. She’s really my lucky star,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by STM Lottery Sdn Bhd.
He said he only realised he had won the jackpot after scanning his ticket using the Sports Toto mobile application.
“The notification came as a complete shock. My wife and I were in disbelief and barely slept that night, trying to convince ourselves that we had actually won,” he said.
The winner said the windfall would be used to purchase a house, as his family was currently renting, and to make long-term investments, including setting aside funds for his daughter’s education.
He added that the jackpot win had significantly eased their financial burden and provided greater security for the family’s future.
