LAWAS: Anjung Usahawan Lawas is set to be fully operational by June 1, providing a new hub for business activities and supporting local economic growth.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the RM3.8 million project will serve as a key commercial center in the constituency.

He said Anjung Usahawan will benefit not only small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) but also nearby institutions.

These include the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) Lawas, MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Lawas, the newly built Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Lawas, and the new Lawas district police headquarters.

“This is more than just a business centre, it is a platform for local entrepreneurs to grow and contribute to Lawas’ economy.

“It will also be a focal point for the surrounding community and students,” he said during his working visit to Anjung Usahawan Lawas on Sunday (Mar 9).

Located in a strategic area within the town’s development zone, entrepreneurship centre features 10 food stalls, a grocery store, a dining area for 180 people, and a dedicated space for performances and community activities.

To address frequent low water pressure issues in the area, the facility is also equipped with a water tank.

The new business hub is poised to boost local commerce and strengthen economic activity in northern Sarawak.
