KUCHING: The Youth Bumiputera Entrepreneurship Programme (TUBE) X Sarawak Zone aims to develop a highly competitive group of young Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sarawak.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MySED), Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, said the programme’s dual benefit would boost entrepreneurship and alleviating rural poverty by creating job opportunities.
“The TUBE Programme has become increasingly popular among Bumiputera youth, especially in Sarawak and Sabah, thanks to its thorough entrepreneurship training and startup grants of up to RM15,000,” he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the TUBE X Sarawak Zone Programme, held at the CIDB Convention Centre on today.
He noted that nearly 800 Sarawakian youths have engaged with the programme from 2014 to 2024, in line with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision of fostering young technopreneurs in the region.
The event was part of a broader effort led by SME Corp Malaysia to encourage entrepreneurship among capable young individuals. The TUBE-X Sarawak Zone Programme this year involved 115 Bumiputera youths from across the state.
Present at the event were Mohd Ritaudden Makip, Deputy CEO (Policy and Coordination) of SME Corp Malaysia, and Julyskristin Poly, director of SME Corp Malaysia’s Sarawak Regional Office.
