SIMUNJAN: Riverbank erosion here caused an excavator to plunge into the river and was almost totally submerged. This incident occurred at Taman Botani, Jalan Sabun yesterday evening.
Simunjan fire chief PPgB Mat Undik said their station received an emergency call around 3.02pm on the incident and immediately despatched firefighters to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found that the river bank soil erosion was measuring about 130 metres.
The incident involved a sunken excavator while another excavator managed to be saved by employees who were present on site.
Firefighters only monitored the situation and installed fences as well as advising the community not to approach the risky area.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
