KUCHING: WTK Holdings Bhd recorded a sharp 18.5 per cent increase in fresh fruit bunches (FFB) production in April 2025, reaching 22,295 tonnes compared to 18,811 tonnes a year earlier, driven by its recent acquisition of Durafarm Sdn Bhd and improved yields from existing estates.

However, crude palm oil (CPO) output dropped 16.5 per cent to 4,025 tonnes from 4,826 tonnes, while palm kernel (PK) production fell 20 per cent to 816 tonnes, according to its filing with Bursa Malaysia.

WTK’s wholly-owned unit BioFarm Venture Sdn Bhd completed its full acquisition of Durafarm between January 2024 and January 2025 for a total of RM188.86 million.

The deal expanded the group’s planted area by 4,394 hectares to 20,824 hectares.

The Durafarm estate has a young crop profile, with 64 per cent of its palms under three years old.

Replanting works covering 1,100 hectares are underway, with full completion expected by 3Q2025.

As of end-2024, 48 per cent of WTK’s palms were in their prime mature phase (9–14 years), with the rest classified as young mature (4–8 years) and mature (15–18 years).

FFB production is expected to rise further as more palms enter peak-yielding stages.

In FY2024, WTK produced 231,000 tonnes of FFB, up from 173,000 tonnes in FY2023.

In contrast, log production plunged to 20,928 cubic metres in April 2025 from 32,637 cubic metres a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd (SOP) saw April FFB output climb 15.8 per cent to 106,555 tonnes, with CPO and PK output rising to 32,121 tonnes and 7,119 tonnes respectively.

SOP’s total planted area stood at 83,916 hectares as at end-2024.

Sarawak Plantation Bhd’s FFB production jumped 26 per cent year-on-year to 30,166 tonnes.

However, its CPO and PK volumes declined to 7,606 tonnes (from 8,445 tonnes) and 1,674 tonnes (from 1,867 tonnes), respectively. The group’s total planted area is 36,232 hectares.
