Malaysian investors gain wider access to global derivatives through Eurex

KUCHING: Affin Hwang Investment Bank has expanded its foreign futures offering to include selected futures listed on Eurex, one of Europe’s major derivatives exchanges, giving eligible Malaysian clients wider access to international markets.

The offering covers futures across equity indices, interest rates, equities and volatility, providing investors with additional tools to diversify their portfolios and manage risk.

Affin Hwang Investment Bank chief executive officer Hanif Ghulam Mohammed said the partnership brought European markets closer to Malaysian investors through a local platform.

“European markets offer distinct sources of equity, interest-rate and volatility exposure. Through our partnership with Eurex, we are bringing these markets closer to our clients through a trusted local platform, giving them additional tools to diversify, manage risk and respond to developments across global market cycles,” he said.

The launch is the latest step in Affin Hwang’s expansion of its Foreign Futures business, which has been strengthened through collaborations with global market players since 2023.

Hanif said the bank would continue broadening the range of global exposures available to clients while maintaining its focus on investor education, disciplined onboarding and informed participation.

The initiative also forms part of AFFIN Group’s Axelerate 2028 plan to strengthen its investment platform and provide a more seamless end-to-end client journey.

Eurex head of Asia-Pacific sales Mathieu Fuhrmann said demand for European and global benchmarks was growing as investors increasingly sought to diversify beyond domestic and US markets.

“As investors look to broaden their portfolios beyond domestic and U.S. markets, access to European and global benchmarks is becoming increasingly important,” he said.

The partnership was launched at Menara AFFIN @ TRX yesterday.

During the launch, Eurex presented Affin Hwang with its “Best Emerging Broker” award in recognition of its growth in foreign futures, investor education efforts and work to widen access to international derivatives markets.

Affin Hwang said both parties would continue collaborating on educational programmes, client briefings and market engagement initiatives to strengthen investors’ understanding of European futures.
