MIRI: A workers’ quarters at Jalan Cahaya, Taman Saujana Impian was reduced to ashes in a fire yesterday (June 1).
The fire, which broke out at 6pm, also damaged a three-tonne lorry and a Perodua Alza.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), no injuries were reported as no one was home during the incident and attempts to contact the occupants were unsuccessful.
Firefighters from Lopeng station were dispatched to the scene to carry out firefighting operations.
Upon arrival, they discovered the six-room quarters completely razed. The lorry and the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) sustained 10 and five per cent damage to their front sections, respectively.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
