TATAU: Over 400 students and teachers of SMK Tatau were treated to an engaging and patriotic-filled morning during the PENTARAMA X Kelab Malaysiaku programme held at the school’s open hall here on Thursday.
Organised by the Tatau District Information Department (JAPEN), the programme aimed to instil love for the nation and deepen patriotic spirit among students, particularly those involved in Kelab Malaysiaku.
The initiative is part of JAPEN Malaysia’s fresh approach in boosting excitement and participation in the upcoming National Month celebrations.
Adding value to the programme was a talk on online safety delivered by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Bintulu branch.
The session raised awareness on the dangers of internet misuse, especially among the younger generation, who is increasingly vulnerable to cybercrime.
Tatau information officer Donny Minggu Ling said today’s youth often perceived the internet as just a source of entertainment or a way to form online relationships.
“It is important that they understand the risks involved,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation for the school’s warm welcome and active participation.
“I hope more students will sign up as members of Kelab Malaysiaku in the future.
“This club is not merely another school activity, it’s a meaningful platform that brings students closer to the spirit of nationhood,” he said.
Meanwhile, SMK Tatau senior assistant for Student Affairs and acting principal Jelang Nyala echoed Donny’s sentiments, underscoring the importance of patriotism among students.
“I welcome the call for more student involvement in Kelab Malaysiaku. It’s essential for our students to love their country.
“Through activities such as educational trips, they will begin to appreciate our national history and the beauty of Malaysia’s tourist sites.
“It’s a hands-on way to learn about our country,” he said.
