MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) is all geared up to commemorate its 18th anniversary.
With ’18 Going-International’ as this year’s tagline, MCC is focusing on strengthening its foreign relations to promote Miri abroad.
“To kick-start the celebration, we have arranged Miri City’s open day on May 20 at the ground floor of the City Hall in Marina Park here,” disclosed Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang on Wednesday (May 10).
The open day starts at 9am to be followed by various performances.
“Booths selling food and beverages will be available during the event besides highlighting services available at MCC,” Yii disclosed.
“On the evening of May 20, we will host a reception dinner at Pullman Hotel Miri, attended by foreign dignitaries.”
To mark the close of the anniversary celebration, a dinner has been arranged on May 28 whereby Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be the guest of honour.
“The dinner will be held at Eastwood Golf and Country Club,” Yii said.
Also present at the press conference was MCC secretary Abdul Rahman Taupek.
