SIBU: Sibu residents will be treated to five main and exciting events in conjunction with the Sibu Divisional X-Tive Sarawak 2025 event, which is scheduled to take place for two days from Sept 13 to 14 at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang.
Among the programmes that will steal the spotlight are a large-scale Zumba session, a patriotic-themed run “I Love Malaysia Run”, a Pipe-blowing Competition featuring traditional elements, a Tug of War Competition, and a body strength test event called “Strongman”.
The event, organised jointly by various government agencies, is an initiative under the Sarawak X-Tive which is also a platform for community sports empowerment ahead of the 2025 Borneo Games which will take place shortly thereafter, from Sept 24 to 28.
Thorough preparations are currently underway, starting with a Coordination Meeting held at the Sibu Divisional Resident’s Office here on Thursday (Aug 21).
Sibu Division Resident, Mohamad Porkan Budiman who chaired the meeting stated that the success of the event depends heavily on close collaboration between government agencies and local organisations.
“Sibu Division is hoped to be an example in making health and family-oriented event like this a success, especially as it brings aspirations of unity ahead of the Borneo Games,” he said.
Apart from the five main programmes, various side activities are also provided to enliven the atmosphere, including food and beverage stalls and handicrafts by the Sibu Division Entrepreneur Development Council (SDEDC) and participation from the Sibu Car Boot Sale.
The event is expected to be officiated by the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee who is also Nangka Assemblyman.
