KUCHING: The existing earth drains at Lorong Stampin Barat 4 will soon be upgraded to concrete drains as part of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025.
Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, said the RM250,000 project is expected to be completed by November this year.
He assured the public that he would closely monitor the project’s progress in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure it is completed on time and meets the necessary standards.
“This project is a continuation of my efforts to address the long-standing drainage issues raised by residents. It also ensures that public funds are used effectively for people-centric development.
“Residents, especially those near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Laksamana, have long requested proper drainage to prevent water ponding and erosion.
“This RTP project is not just about infrastructure. It’s about fulfilling a promise to improve the quality of life and protect homes from unnecessary damage,” he said.
Yap officially handed over the Letter of Award (LoA) to the appointed contractor during a site visit today.
The scope of the project includes upgrading deteriorating earth drains to permanent concrete drains.
This upgrade will significantly improve stormwater flow, reduce the risk of flash flooding, and enhance cleanliness and safety for nearby residents and school children.
