MUKAH: The Community Sports Complex (KSK) in Mukah has the potential to become a vibrant hub for local sports and community activities—provided the handover from the federal government to the Sarawak government is expedited, says Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.
Speaking after officiating the prize-giving ceremony for the 2025 Mukah Community Sports League (LSK) netball tournament yesterday (June 14), Royston expressed optimism that the facility could be fully utilised to benefit the local community once it is officially managed by the state.
“With proper access and management, this complex can bring people together through sports and healthy activities.
“It’s better for these facilities to be used actively, even if wear and tear occurs, rather than be left idle and fall into disrepair,” he said.
Royston urged both federal and state authorities to resolve any outstanding administrative matters promptly, adding that the KSK is well-equipped for various sports including basketball, futsal, sepak takraw, badminton, and more.
He also highlighted its potential use by government agencies and NGOs for organising community events.
The LSK netball final saw PMU Riftborn emerge as champions after defeating D’Gegar, while MK Shot and Netvengers shared third place.
Royston presented the prizes and congratulated all participating teams for their performance and spirit.
He praised the Mukah Division Youth and Sports Office for successfully organising the tournament, which drew increased participation this year—nine netball teams, 16 sepak takraw entries, and seven mixed-team table tennis entries—reflecting growing public interest in community sports.
