DALAT: To strengthen industry ties and promote sustainable development, the Sago and Nipah Development Board (SNDB) conducted a working visit to Song Ngeng Sago Industries here to assess its operations and explore strategic collaboration opportunities in the sago sector.

SNDB was represented by General Manager Zaidell Hussaini; Dr Hasawardi Hazmi, Manager of the Crop Planting and Development Division; and senior board officers, while Song Ngeng Sago Industries was represented by Director Ling Che Huah, Marketing Manager Danny Ling, and other members of the management team.

Established in the 1960s, Song Ngeng Sago Industries operates on an eight-hectare site with a production capacity of 1.18 metric tonnes of sago flour per hour.

The plant is vital in supporting smallholder farmers, particularly in this district, by purchasing and processing sago harvested from local community farms.

The visit aimed to evaluate the plant’s operational efficiency and initiate discussions on long-term cooperation opportunities between SNDB and the manufacturer.

Through on-site engagement and dialogue sessions, both parties expressed a shared commitment to exploring collaborative efforts that could contribute to the sustainable development of the sago industry, generate a positive socio-economic impact for the local community, and strengthen the industry’s value chain.
