Explosion at Kuala Baram factory leaves four injured

MIRI: Four individuals sustained injuries, including two who suffered serious burns, in an explosion at a factory in Kuala Baram on Monday morning.

The incident, believed to have occurred at approximately 10.40 am, involved a stove used to heat sawdust for generating heat.

Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion was triggered during the heating process.

The victims have been identified as Dai Jiong Huo, 57, Wong King Hee, 39, Ahmad Azizi, 25, and Wawan Firmansyah, 24.

Two of the victims are locals, while the others are believed to be foreign workers.

Lutong Fire and Rescue Station chief Henry Jugah led a team of firefighters to the scene after receiving an emergency call.

Rescue efforts ensured the situation was brought under control, and all injured individuals were promptly sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
