Five firemen in one fire rescue tender (FRT) from Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene.

A while later a firefighting team from the Sibu Fire and Rescue Station came to assist them. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as at press time. The victims were understood to be putting up with friends and relatives.
