KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has received high praise for his firm dedication to improving education in Sarawak.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the Premier’s consistent support has led to visible progress in the state’s education landscape, particularly through Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

She commended Sarawak’s warm hospitality, describing her experience during the national-level Teachers’ Day celebration in Kuching recently as memorable and meaningful.

“This is what I personally conveyed to the Premier during the Malam Berambeh Segulai Sejalai,” she said in a Facebook statement.

Fadhlina noted that the collaboration between the Education Ministry and the Sarawak government remains strong and results-driven.

Among the key achievements are the proactive efforts to address issues such as dilapidated schools and shortage of teachers in rural areas.

She said Sarawak’s commitment has also contributed to better academic outcomes, including improved results in the recent Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) examinations.

“The Premier’s passion and drive to uplift Sarawak’s education sector is truly admirable,” she added.

She concluded her message with a classic Malay pantun that expressed admiration for Abang Johari’s leadership and included a blue heart emoji.

“Dua-tiga kucing berlari,
Mana kan sama si kucing belang,
Dua-tiga boleh kucari,
Mana kan sama dengan Premier Sarawak seorang.”
