MIRI: Years of shared grind under Warmonger Training Academy will be put to the test as Fadzly Nadzier and Koo Jin Fuh step into high-pressure bouts at “Strike” MMA in Kuala Lumpur on April 19, chasing breakthrough moments on the national and international stages.

The event, held from 7 pm to 11 pm at Pusat Komuniti Sentul Perdana, will feature both professional and competitive match-ups, with Warmonger fighters representing Borneo on a stacked fight card.

Miri-born Fadzly will compete in the flyweight (56.7kg) main event against the Philippines’ Florence Manguiat in an international professional showdown.

Fadzly enters the bout full of confidence after a standout win last October, when he defeated Junior Gamma World Champion, Rico Hutasoit, on the pro circuit.

In the next bout, Brunei’s Koo Jin Fuh will compete in the Super 8 Welterweight (77.1kg) MMA division.

Jin, who trains regularly out of Miri with Warmonger, narrowly missed out on a title last year after reaching the Octagon Fighting Championship final, losing by decision to a Singapore opponent.

This time, he returns with another opportunity to push towards a championship pathway.

Warmonger head coach, Gavin Mattu, said both fighters represent the long-term commitment behind the team’s development.

“Both of these warriors have been training together and actively competing in the national MMA scene for many years. Through hard work and dedication, they have been tirelessly training week in, week out to achieve their goals,” Gavin told Sarawak Tribune recently.

He added that the academy’s focus remains on building fighters who can compete at higher levels while strengthening the sport’s presence in Borneo.

The academy continues to push for greater recognition of MMA in Miri and Borneo, while also hoping for stronger sponsorship support to help athletes reach higher levels.

As fight night approaches, both Fadzly and Jin aim to turn years of preparation into defining moments inside the cage.
