Fahmi conveys condolences to late James’ family

KUCHING: Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, extends his condolences to the family of the late James Alexander Ritchie, a highly respected veteran journalist who made significant contributions to the nation’s journalism industry.

Fahmi in a Facebook posting described James’ passing as a great loss, not only to his beloved family but also to the entire media fraternity of the country.

“With nearly 50 years of experience, the late James Alexander Ritchie was an inspiration to many generations of journalists, and leaves behind a truly meaningful legacy.

“His selection as the recipient of the 2024 National Journalists Day (HAWANA) Award, presented by the Prime Minister in Kuching, Sarawak, is a testament to the highest recognition of his contributions and dedication to the field.

“May his family remain strong during this difficult time,” said Fahmi in the statement.

James passed away at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today.

He was 74.
