KUCHING: A driver can count his lucky stars after the car that he was driving was struck by a falling tree at Jalan Demak Laut here last night.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a distress call on the incident at 9.33 pm and dispatched a team from its Tabuan Jaya station.
The team, arrived at the scene at 9.45 pm and found a tree had collapsed onto a vehicle and obstructing the roadway.
“An inspection by the Operational Response Team (PKO) found no one trapped in the vehicle,” the department said in a statement.
According to an eyewitness, the driver was rescued by a friend and did not suffer any injuries.
Firefighters proceeded to cut and remove the fallen tree to ensure the road was safe for public use.
The operation ended at 10.25 pm.
