KUCHING: A Hari Raya celebration hosted by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) received a warm welcome from the public.

The event was held at Dewan Seri Mahligai, Jalan Crookshank, here.

It was attended by Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Ahmad Nazri Mohd Hassan, FAMA director Norsalawaty Abdul Kadir, representatives from various organisations and businesses, stakeholders, department heads, the Baiturrahmah Welfare Association, and local business owners.

In his speech, Ahmad welcomed all attendees and noted the government’s many initiatives aimed at supporting business owners and boosting the state’s productivity.

“There are many initiatives undertaken by the Sarawak government, especially subsidies for business owners, which could help ease their financial burden.”

He also stressed the importance of food security for the public.

“Food security is very important because we don’t want the public suffering from food shortages.”

Meanwhile, in her opening address, Norsalawaty welcomed everyone and noted that the event was more than just a festive gathering.

“The celebration held today was more than just a festive gathering.

It became a powerful reminder of the state’s dedication to unity, entrepreneurship, and community care.”

In a speech delivered at the event, the organiser stressed that the occasion was not solely about celebrating Hari Raya, but also reflected the shared commitment among local heroes, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders striving to uplift Sarawak’s industrial sector.

Special recognition was given to agro-entrepreneurs for their crucial role in ensuring food security.

“These entrepreneurs not only produce quality products but also help develop their local communities,” Norsalawaty added.

The event also honoured children and representatives from the Baiturrahmah Welfare Association, symbolising compassion and inclusivity during the festive season.

“Also, I would like to welcome 10 children from Rumah Kebajikan Baiturrahmah, who are here today as we celebrate them,” she said.

Acknowledgement was extended to media partners for their unwavering support in promoting activities and initiatives involving local heroes and entrepreneurs in Sarawak.

“The media plays a significant role in elevating entrepreneurs and helping us progress swiftly,” said Norsalawaty.

Sarawak Tribune also had the opportunity to interview several attendees to gather their opinions about the event.

The event so far is very good, Alhamdulillah.
The food provided is also delicious, but a little improvement could be made in terms of the buffet booths because there was only one buffet section, so the line was so long since there are lots of attendees.
This is actually my first time going or being invited to an event like this, so I am very happy to be here.

The vibe of this event so far is very nice, and there are a lot of people attending so it is very festive and lively.
This is my first time attending FAMA’s Aidilfitri celebration, as I have only attended FAMA’s Iftar event before.
They called the office at Baiturrahmah, inviting us to come to this event.
So, I came here with 10 of the children from our welfare association.

I have never attended this event before, this is my first time being invited to this kind of event.
I was invited here as one of the caterers, but I only make traditional kuih, such as penyaram.
The event here is very lively, and I am honoured to be here.
