KUCHING: Tunku Putra-HELP School will welcome families for its first-ever Family Exploration Day, a dynamic community learning event designed to engage both parents and children in meaningful, future-focused experiences.

The event will be held on Saturday, September 27 from 9 am to 12 pm at the school campus.

According to a statement, a keynote address entitled “Raising Gen Z & Gen Alpha in a Fast-Changing World”, explores the critical questions of modern parenting.

The keynote speaker, Dr Gerard Louis, chief executive officer of HELP Education Services, will challenge parents to rethink traditional expectations.

“Parents today face real challenges: How do we raise kids who are not just smart, but ready for life? And how can schools truly partner with families to shape that future? These are urgent questions – and it’s time we tackle them together,” he said.

Parents will then have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops led by education experts. These sessions include: What to Expect on Your Child’s Primary Learning Journey, which highlights the distinctive strengths of both National and International Curricula, Journeying with Your Child Through Every Step of Their Learning Process (Mandarin Session), offering insights and guidance for Mandarin-speaking families, and Public, Private, or International School: What’s the Difference and Why It Matters, which unpacks SPM, IGCSE and post-secondary pathways such as A Levels, Foundation studies, and university options.

While parents immerse themselves in these discussions, children will have the chance to experience the school first-hand through a series of exciting and educational activities.

Curated especially for newcomers to Tunku Putra-HELP, the programme features STEM challenges, Makers’ Stations and Exploration Corners, giving children a fun, hands-on introduction to the school’s vibrant learning environment.

Executive principal, Shirley Harrison, emphasised the event’s unique approach.

“We designed Family Exploration Day as the first of its kind in Kuching because parents deserve more than brochures and Open Days.

“They deserve a space to ask real questions, to learn alongside experts, and to feel confident about their children’s future, while their children experience the energy and joy of our school,” she said.

The Family Exploration Day is free of charge, but spaces are limited. Parents are encouraged to register early at https://bit.ly/TPHFamExploration2025Reg or by calling 016 678 0351 to secure their place.
