MIRI: A gang of masked men tied up and robbed a family of eleven at a house in Taman Hillstone here at around 3.00am yesterday.
Miri District Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, when contacted yesterday, confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
“We believe the suspects were Indonesians based on the language they used during the heist,” he added.
The three masked men gained entry to the house, belonging to a doctor, via the windows at the balcony.
“Based on early investigation, the suspects were believed to have climbed the roof and then prised open the windows at the balcony.
“Upon entering the room, one of the suspects pointed the knife at the doctor and tied him up before proceeding to other rooms and tying the rest of his family up,” he said.
Stanley said the suspects fled the scene after taking jewellery, a sum of cash and mobile phones.
“However, the estimated loss has yet to be determined and the police are still investigating the case,” he added.
