BAU: A Farmer Street will be established in the town to provide small-scale farming communities with a dedicated space to sell their agricultural products from rural areas.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Tasik Biru assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, said the initiative — launched under the Bau Area Farmers’ Organisation — aims to increase farmers’ income.

“This initiative will directly contribute to the district’s food supply chain,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Agricultural Development Programme Seminar (Agricop) for the Tasik Biru State Constituency here recently.

Henry expressed confidence that through the programme organised by the Bau District Agriculture Department, local farmers will become part of various supply chains, including livestock, bananas, and vegetables, which they can then sell at Farmer Street.

Earlier, Bau District Agriculture Officer Eddyson Jenggah said the two-day programme, which began on Thursday, was designed to provide farmers with direct exposure to the latest agricultural technologies.

Additionally, the programme aims to enhance knowledge, awareness, and skills among farmers while improving the production and quality of agricultural products.
