KUCHING: The president of Football Association of Sarawak (FAS), Dato Posa Haji Majais acknowledged that the efforts made by the FAS to establish cooperation with the State Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to be a liaison to ensure that no corruption occurs in the main body.
He said it was also a reminder to players and all personnel under the auspices of FAS to refrain from acts such as match-fixing and power abuse.
Posa stressed this in a signing ceremony of the ‘Corruption-Free Pledge’ (IBR) by FAS, which was attended by a number of FAS Exco members, coaches and players in the meeting room of the State Stadium in Petra Jaya, here, on Tuesday.
According to Posa, FAS is deeply concerned with the problem and will not compromise if there any players are involved in corruption.
“IBR is an effort and a very good approach because I believe it will be a reminder to all players.
“At the same time, IBR can also be a benchmark for FAS
to produce players of high-performance, quality and integrity,” he added.
He admitted that the initiative undertaken by his party will be able to maintain and enhance
the confidence of the people, especially the football fans all over the state.
Meanwhile, Posa welcomed the lifetime suspension on players or officials who found involved in corruption, as determined by the highest governing body of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
“FAS is committed to curb and eliminate all forms of corruption, power abuse as well as irregularities,” he said.
Posa was proud that FAS was the first sports body in the country that dare to take up MACC’s challenge to jointly prevent corruption.
Also present at the ceremony was State Director of MACC Dato’ Badrul Shah Norman.
