KUCHING: All approved projects under the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) should be fast-tracked to ensure communities benefit promptly from the development and facilities intended for them.
Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Ugak Wilson Kumbong said this in a Facebook post following a meeting of the URDA Board of Directors on Saturday (Feb 7).
It was chaired by URDA chairman Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi who is also Kapit MP, and attended by all Members of Parliament and state assembly representatives whose constituencies fall under the ambit of the agency.
Ugak who attended the meeting, stressed the importance of expediting approved projects.
“Any delays in project implementation cannot be taken lightly,” he said.
“Approved projects must be expedited with close monitoring, as the people should not have to wait too long for basic amenities and development they rightfully deserve.”
Key physical projects discussed during the meeting include road construction and water supply, which are deemed vital for improving the comfort and well-being of local communities.
Socioeconomic initiatives were also highlighted, particularly kelulut honey and coffee projects aimed at generating income opportunities while strengthening the local economy.
