Fatal crash at Jalan Mukah-Balingian claims motorcyclist’s life

MUKAH: A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a lorry at KM20, Jalan Mukah-Balingian late Thursday night (Mar 26).

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident occurred at about 11pm and involved a 25-tonne lorry carrying fertiliser and a motorcycle.

Initial investigations found that the lorry, driven by a 36-year-old man, was travelling from Simpang Jalan Metading towards Mukah town when the motorcycle from the opposite direction veered into its lane.

“The collision caused the motorcyclist to suffer severe injuries to the head, left leg and left hand,” he said in a statement.

The victim, from Kampung Kuala Penipah, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Mukah Hospital.

The lorry driver escaped unhurt.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
