Father, son safe despite suffering minor injuries

KANOWIT: A father and son experienced a frightening ordeal when the Toyota Dyna towing lorry they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a 5-metre-deep ravine along Jalan Kanowit-Julau last night (Nov 8).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 9.30 pm yesterday.

In its statement, Bomba said that members of the public managed to rescue both victims before the team arrived at the scene.

“There were two victims, an adult male, who is the father of the second victim, a teenage boy.

“The 50-year-old man sustained a broken left wrist, while his 14-year-old son suffered an injury to his left shoulder,” the statement said.

Both victims were handed over to the Julau Health Clinic ambulance for further medical treatment.

After confirming the scene was safe, the firefighters returned to the station at 10.25 pm.
