PUSA: A man and his 12-year-old son were critically injured in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Simpang Tambak here on Wednesday (Nov 5).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the accident involved a Perodua Kancil, an Isuzu D-Max and a Perodua Viva.
A team from the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene following a distress call received at 12.16 pm.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the 34-year-old driver of the Perodua Kancil trapped in his seat.
They had to use rescue tools to cut and pry open the car door before extricating the victim, who sustained multiple leg fractures and other serious injuries. He was later handed over to medical personnel for treatment.
His 12-year-old son, who also suffered severe injuries including a hip fracture, was rescued earlier by members of the public before the arrival of emergency responders.
The drivers and passengers of the Isuzu D-Max and Perodua Viva, however, escaped unhurt.
