KUCHING: A prosperous and progressive nation is built upon the foundation of strong families.
And behind every successful family stands a father who toils tirelessly – whether in rural villages or bustling cities, across all walks of life and professions.
“These are the true heroes who shape the future of our nation’s next generation,” said Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, in a joint Father’s Day message with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
In this context, he reminded Sarawakians not to forget the sacrifices and contributions of their fathers.
Wan Junaidi paid tribute to the important role fathers play as protectors, guides, molders of values and morals as well as a key source of inspiration and role models in the development of a child’s character, spirit and attitude.
“A father’s sacrifices cannot be fully expressed in words. From childhood to adulthood, a father stands as the pillar of the family, a steadfast supporter through every challenge in life,” he said.
“Though his love is rarely verbalised, every drop of sweat, every effort made, is a testament to an endless love for the well-being of his family.”
Fathers, he said, teach us responsibility, patience, resilience and strength.
“Their advice becomes a compass in life, and their firmness helps to shape our character and endurance in facing challenges.
“Thus, on this special day, it is an opportunity for us to appreciate and recognise the vital role played by fathers in shaping families and society,” he added.
Wan Junaidi said Father’s Day is therefore more than just a celebration as it is a time to remember their deeds, express gratitude, and honour their love and guidance.
“Fathers bear the great responsibility of leading their families, ensuring the welfare, safety and future of their children are always protected,” he said.
Towards this end, the Head of State encouraged families to use the occasion to spend quality time with their fathers and show appreciation through sincere and thoughtful gestures, reminding Malaysians that love and attention are the most valuable gifts a child can give.
He reminded that it is important to cherish fathers while they are still around, express appreciation, and carry forward the legacy of noble values they have instilled.
“To those who have lost their fathers, offer prayers and alms as a lasting sign of love,” he said.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah extended their Father’s Day wishes to all fathers in the country, praying for their continued good health, strength and blessings as they guide and nurture the next generation.
