KUCHING: Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah has urged staff members to embody the six characteristics of the Sarawak Civil Service (SPANS).
She said the six characteristics include integrity, professionalism, result-oriented approach, kindness, teamwork, and sense of urgency and ownership.
“With staff members embodying these characteristics, I firmly believe it would not only impress our clients but also propel our Ministry forward.
“Most importantly, I want our Ministry to be among the best of the best in Sarawak,” she said.
She said this in her speech during the Ministry’s Excellence Service Awards (APC) ceremony at a hotel here last night (Feb 16).

Fatimah also expressed hope that the recognition received through the APC ceremony would motivate and inspire all members of the Ministry and its departments/agencies to continue shaping and enhancing outstanding work ethics and practices.
“This is because this recognition is not only in the form of service achievements but also in moral values and ethics in carrying out duties.
“Consistency in performance, by demonstrating a meticulous, focused, and responsible attitude in tasks, a tendency to achieve excellence including a desire to continually improve skills, knowledge and performance.
“Most importantly, practising integrity in service, by prioritising honesty, fairness, and transparency in various aspects of service regardless of pressure or temptation,” she added.
She urged staff members to maintain the momentum of excellence and commitment, stressing the importance of their roles in supporting the government’s efforts towards the well-being and prosperity of Sarawak.
The APC ceremony, attended by Deputy Minister Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam, permanent secretary Noriah Ahmad, and other distinguished guests, celebrated a total of 35 recipients, including eight from the Ministry, 21 from the Social Welfare Department (JKMS), and six from the State Women and Family Department (JWKS).
