JAKARTA: Sarawak is strengthening its regional network in women’s empowerment through a strategic working visit to Jakarta led by Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The official visit aims to forge meaningful relationships with leading women’s organisations and key stakeholders in Indonesia, while identifying effective strategies and best practices that could enrich Sarawak’s own policy framework on gender equality.

“The primary objective of the visit is to build meaningful relationships and identify opportunities for collaboration with successful women’s organisations and key industry players.

“We also seek to learn from the Republic of Indonesia’s achievements in promoting gender equality particularly through innovative approaches, effective development strategies and best practices introduced by the Indonesian government in empowering women across various sectors.

“This engagement adds value to Sarawak’s policy framework and contributes to impactful programmes that support women’s development and leadership,” she said.

She added that the visit began at the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection where the delegation was warmly welcomed by Arifah Choiri Fauzi, Indonesia’s Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection.

Arifah expressed strong support for cross border cooperation and highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange in advancing gender equality in the region.

At Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Indonesia, the delegation was greeted by Arief Mulyadi, president director of PNM.

The delegates received a briefing on PNM’s comprehensive data dashboard which showcases real time insights into programme performance, outreach and impact metrics.
