KUCHING: Datuk Fatimah Abdullah welcomes the suggestion for selected state representatives to adopt schools in their constituencies for the pilot programme to improve command of the English language among students.
The Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister said yesterday that the initiative put forward in a circular dated 15 Jun, 2017 by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research was “very good.”
She was interviewed by reporters during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house of the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka here.
“In my constituency, there are many ways and initiatives by the teachers and parents to increase the hours students spend on the English language,” she said.
The headmasters or principals of the schools have also taken the initiative to put up signs inside and outside the classrooms in Bahasa Malaysia and English,” added Fatimah.
