KUCHING: The Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) is reviewing the effectiveness of its initiatives in the year-end.
Its minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said it is crucial that programmes and activities aimed at empowering women, children, and community well-being achieve the desired outcome.
“This is to ensure they (the programmes) meet our objectives, while also expressing our gratitude to our strategic partners.
“We all know that empowering women and families is very important in shaping a prosperous and progressive society.

“Among the programmes we believe have achieved their objectives is the Women Leadership Programme and this programme is very close to our hearts as we aim to see more of our women become leaders or take on roles where they are entrusted with decision-making responsibilities,” she said during KPWK appreciation ceremony at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre, Kuching yesterday (Dec 3).
She added that the effort to strengthen women’s leadership remains the ministry’s priority as it aligns with the commitment to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, which focuses on gender equality and empowering all women and girls.
The ceremony was graced by 400 guests.
Fatimah said the appreciation ceremony last night was actually to honour and reflect on the achievements that the ministry have accomplished.
As the night progressed, the ceremony proceeded with the presentation of the Sarawak Civil Service Innovative and Creative Award (SCSICA) 2024 Jury’s Special Award, which was bestowed upon the Kenyalang Drone team under the Social Development Council, KPWK.
Kenyalang Drone was the sole representative of KPWK to qualify for SCSICA 2024, held from Oct 21 to 25, whereby the project, titled ‘Improving Community Well-being Management for Released Prisoners in Sarawak’, earned the team the prestigious recognition.
