KUCHING: The upcoming Sarawak State Fatwa Seminar 2025 will serve as a key platform for Islamic scholars, religious officers and government agencies to deliberate on various issues and challenges related to Islamic rulings and the implementation of fatwas in the state.
Scheduled to take place on Oct 16 at the Islamic Complex Hall in Sibu, the seminar aims to strengthen understanding and coordination among relevant stakeholders in addressing contemporary religious matters.
In preparation for the event, Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, on Tuesday received a courtesy call from the seminar’s organising delegation at Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The delegation was led by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, together with senior religious and administrative officials, including Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha and state Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin.
During the visit, the delegation extended an official invitation to Wan Junaidi and Fauziah to officiate the seminar in Sibu.
Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak Mufti Department and all agencies involved for their continuous efforts in strengthening public understanding of Islamic law and the role of the fatwa institution in Sarawak.
He also expressed hope that the seminar would help deepen religious understanding and foster unity among Muslims in navigating current issues based on Islamic principles and the spirit of ummah solidarity.
