KUCHING: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel rushed to an apartment along Jalan Central Timur early morning (Dec 9) after a fire broke out inside one of the units.
Bomba received the emergency call at 7.52 am from an occupant of the unaffected apartment unit reporting about a fire in one of the unit.
Firefighters from Padungan station arrived within minutes, reaching the location at 7.55 am as the building was just 2km away.
Upon checking, the fire was found to have started from an extension wire inside a bedroom measuring 20 by 20 feet in the two-storey apartment.
The team, fully equipped in personal protective gear, immediately carried out extinguishing efforts using a dry powder fire extinguisher and hose reel.
The fire was successfully brought under control at 8.25 am and fully extinguished by 8.51 am.
No injuries were reported during the incident, and firefighters ensured no further risk of fire spread before concluding the operation.
The cause of the fire and estimated loss are still under investigation.
